Depending on which report you read this week, Apple has either quietly revived a smart ring project or shelved it for good years ago. Nobody agrees, and that's the whole story.

Apple has never announced, teased, or otherwise officially confirmed a ring-shaped wearable product. There is no product page, no trademark filing tied to a public launch, and no executive has spoken about it on the record.
Apple holds patents describing ring-form health sensors, including designs for detecting grip, gesture, and biometric signals. Patent filings are a routine part of Apple's R&D pipeline and do not, on their own, indicate a product is coming.

Leaker "Kosutami" reignited the smart ring conversation on 24 June 2026, claiming Apple has a ring wearable in the works. The claim came with no specs, no price, and no launch window, and Apple has not commented.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that Apple gave up on the ring project entirely. Analyst Ben Wood, by contrast, suggested in earlier reporting that Apple could still bring such a device to market. The two camps haven't reconciled, even after the fresh June 2026 leak.
Most coverage now suggests that if a consumer-ready ring does happen, it wouldn't land before 2027 at the very earliest — and that's treating the June leak as credible, which not everyone does.
Industry chatter around the project reportedly cooled off over the two years before this year's leak, following earlier reports that Apple executives shelved the idea out of concern it would cannibalize Apple Watch sales.

Round-ups speculate about a feature set built around sleep tracking, heart rate, blood oxygen, and body temperature sensing, plus gesture control for interacting with other devices via hand movement, and possible integration with Vision Pro for spatial computing input. A single leaker's claim reviving a story that Apple's own top-sourced reporter says is dead isn't a strong signal — it's a news cycle. The feature list being floated is really just "things Apple has patented," dressed up as a roadmap. Even the most optimistic timelines put a launch in 2027, and that assumes the project actually exists in its current form, which is contested by the people who usually get this stuff right. If you're waiting for an Apple ring to compare prices on, we'd suggest not holding your breath — or your finger.
