Given how firmly Apple appears to have pulled back on Touch ID for this cycle, we wouldn't hold off a watch purchase hoping for it. If you need a new Apple Watch now, the Series 11 is still a sound buy — the Series 12 looks set to be an iterative chip-and-software update rather than a design overhaul.
