A 240Hz 4K monitor sounds amazing until you realise your graphics card can't push anywhere near that many frames. Here's how to match a monitor to your actual PC, not your budget for the monitor alone.
Refresh rate vs resolution: you can't max both on a budget
The single biggest mistake buyers make is chasing the highest refresh rate and the highest resolution at the same time without checking what their graphics card can render. A 165Hz 1440p monitor is genuinely more useful to most gamers than a 4K 144Hz one, because a mid-range GPU like an RTX 4060 or 4070 can actually hit 100+ fps at 1440p in most games, whereas it'll struggle to keep a 4K panel fed above 60fps in anything demanding.
