TVs — this is consistently one of the strongest categories, especially on outgoing model-year TVs being cleared before the new range lands early the following year.

Current-generation flagship phones (the newest iPhone or Galaxy) rarely see meaningful direct discounts on Black Friday — manufacturers protect that pricing closely. Console hardware itself also rarely drops in price; what changes is the bundle around it. If a "huge Black Friday deal" on a brand-new flagship phone or console looks too good, check whether it's actually a bundle or trade-in-dependent offer rather than a straight price cut.

How to actually verify a Black Friday deal is real

Check the item's price history from several weeks before Black Friday, not just the days immediately prior — some retailers quietly raise prices in the lead-up so the "sale" price looks bigger than it is. A genuine Black Friday deal should beat the price from a month or more earlier, not just the price from last week.

Boxing Day is a separate, often better window for some categories. Black Friday tends to lead on electronics and audio; Boxing Day often has stronger appliance and TV clearance pricing as retailers push end-of-year stock. Worth comparing both rather than assuming Black Friday is automatically the year's best pricing across every category.
