TechRadar reports that a developer digging through the Garmin Connect Android app spotted a direct reference to "Garmin Fenix 9" in version 5.26 — a string that wasn't present in the prior 5.25 build. The same code dig turned up a reference to a Garmin Enduro 4, suggesting the two watches could be prepped for launch around the same time.
No standard microLED display
Despite years of microLED speculation around Garmin's flagship watches, the5krunner reports the technology failed to deliver the battery-life gains Garmin was hoping for when trialled in the Fenix 8 Pro, and won't appear as a standard Fenix 9 display. Expect AMOLED and Solar MIP configurations instead, with the possibility Garmin explores a solar-over-display hybrid if it finds a panel supplier that can make it work.

A CEO hinting at a second-half launch is the kind of thing companies say every year without committing to a date, and a trademark filing can sit unused for a long time. But finding "Garmin Fenix 9" as a literal string inside a shipped app build is a different order of evidence — someone on Garmin's own team put it there, even if by accident. Combined with the Enduro 4 reference in the same build, we'd bet on both watches landing together, most likely in that August-September window, before we'd bet on any single spec rumour panning out exactly as described.
