GoPro quietly skipped its usual September launch slot for the first time in years, and the delay has fuelled more Hero 14 speculation than any spec leak would have on its own.

GoPro did not release a Hero 14 in its traditional September 2025 window. In March 2026, GoPro publicly unveiled its new GP3 processor as part of a broader roadmap update, alongside a new MISSION 1 Series of compact cinema cameras.
No Hero 14 name, price, or release date has been officially confirmed by GoPro as of July 2026.

DC Rainmaker reports the GP3 processor outlined in March is expected to power the Hero 14, with GoPro reportedly targeting a Q2 2026 launch window for the camera itself rather than the usual back-to-school timing.
The New Camera reports the GP3 chip should bring meaningful gains in low-light image quality, battery runtime and thermal management — historically GoPro's weakest points against rivals like DJI's Osmo Action line.
Digital Camera World reports the Hero 14 Black is expected to deliver "the biggest performance jump in five years," with 8K video recording, HyperSmooth 7.0 stabilisation and a larger 1-inch-class sensor among the rumoured highlights.
Pricing chatter reported by Insider Paper and The New Camera puts the Hero 14 between US$400 and US$450, up slightly from the Hero 13's US$399 launch price. That would likely translate to somewhere around NZ$680–NZ$770 at current exchange rates, though that's Twisti's rough conversion, not a GoPro figure.

The delay reads less like a stumble and more like GoPro repositioning around the MISSION 1 cinema line, which makes us slightly wary of an on-time Q2 launch actually happening — action-cam companies that go quiet for a cycle tend to slip further, not less. If HyperSmooth 7.0 and the bigger sensor pan out, it's a genuinely compelling upgrade over the Hero 13; we just wouldn't bank on the ship date yet.
