Where it matters is multitasking with many apps open, video export, and anything leaning on Apple Intelligence features.

The RAM decision that actually matters

MacBook Air ships with 16GB as the sensible baseline now that Apple has bumped the entry configuration up from 8GB. Unlike storage, RAM cannot be upgraded later — it's soldered to the board — so this is the one spec worth paying up for if you're unsure. 16GB comfortably handles normal multitasking and browser tab hoarding; only go to 24GB if you're doing heavier creative work like large Lightroom catalogues or bigger Xcode builds.
