RTX 50 Super Refresh Rumours: What We Know So Far
Not to be confused with Nvidia's next full GPU generation (which we cover separately in our Next-Gen RTX GPU Rumours piece), this page is about something narrower: a rumoured mid-cycle "Super" refresh of the current RTX 50 series — the same kind of VRAM-boosted refresh Nvidia has done partway through past generations. The lineup is more settled than the launch date is.
What's confirmed
Nvidia has not officially announced an RTX 50 Super series.
Everything about specs, VRAM configurations and launch timing comes from board-partner leaks and supply-chain sourcing. TechPowerUp reports that as of mid-2026, Nvidia's own add-in-board partners still lack finalised specifications for any Super-branded RTX 50 cards, which itself signals no near-term official announcement.

The rumoured lineup covers four cards: RTX 5060 Super, 5070 Super, 5070 Ti Super and 5080 Super.
Tom's Hardware reports a leaked lineup of RTX 5060 Super (12GB), RTX 5070 Super (18GB), RTX 5070 Ti Super (24GB) and RTX 5080 Super (24GB, up from 16GB on the standard RTX 5080) — all using new 3GB GDDR7 memory modules to boost capacity without changing the underlying memory bus width.
Leakers are now split on whether this lands in 2026 or slips to CES 2027.
VideoCardz and Igor's Lab both report the Super refresh has shifted toward a CES 2027 launch window, while leaker MEGAsizeGPU maintains a 2026 launch is still technically on the table. TechPowerUp frames the disagreement as reflecting real uncertainty inside Nvidia's own supply chain, not just conflicting rumours.
GDDR7 memory supply and cost are the main blockers.
Multiple outlets, including Notebookcheck and OC3D, point to constrained supply and higher cost of the new higher-capacity GDDR7 chips as the reason for the slip — with the 18GB and 24GB cards reportedly the most affected since they need the most new memory modules per board.
Nvidia may be deprioritising gaming GPU refreshes in favour of AI/datacenter hardware.
Tech Times and other outlets suggest Nvidia's manufacturing capacity is being weighted toward AI accelerator demand, which several reports cite as a contributing factor in Super-series planning taking a back seat.

Even the more optimistic leaks put a 2026 launch late in the year, and a CES 2027 slip looks increasingly likely given the supply constraints multiple outlets are reporting independently. If your current card is struggling now, buying a standard RTX 5070 or 5080 today is a safer bet than waiting on a VRAM bump that may not land until next year — we'll flag it loudly here the moment that changes.
