The camera ships with an approximately 66.8-effective-megapixel back-illuminated, fully-stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor paired with Sony's new BIONZ XR2 processing engine, the same processor used in the flagship A1 II.

At $4,499.99 USD before any NZ markup, the A7R VI sits firmly in professional territory, and the merged resolution-plus-speed pitch is genuinely compelling if you shoot both landscapes and fast-moving subjects. If that price is out of reach, the outgoing A7R V is likely to see solid discounting on Twisti now that its successor has shipped, and it remains an excellent 61-megapixel body in its own right.
